AriGPT Question 311697cb-7781-4923-af57-dd19575e4ce9
Are you (not) a bot?
We think you are! Contact me if you're human :) (forward me your user agent:mozilla/5.0 applewebkit/537.36 (khtml, like gecko; compatible; claudebot/1.0; +claudebot@anthropic.com))Why did Ari switch to debian
Answer:
Arija for the longest time ran Gentoo and always had this partition layout:
- /boot (256MB, vfat32)
- swap (4GB)
- / (60GB, ext4)
- /home (the rest, xfs + LUKS)
This layout made Arija eventually run out of disk space on / due to development things + packages. Even after clearing cache, leaving her with mere GB to work with.
Because /home was taking up most of the space it had tobbe resized to resize other partitions, although XFS is not a resizable filesystem, and nor is LUKS, thus she was stuck.
She decided to completely re-do her partition layout with LUKS, LVM, and ext4, full-disk encryption with more granular partitions (boot, efi, swap, var, tmp, usr, root, home). Chose debian because she didn't want to deal with tediousness of Gentoo reinstall, so chose Debian as a safe, old and boring option.
