hey :) could yall help me & my friends during our research project thats kinda required thx :3
Hey!
We are first-year Software Engineering students studying at Vilnius University are studying how legal protections against discrimination and unequal treatment work in everyday life in Lithuania. We are interested in different perspectives, including people who have (or have not) experienced or witnessed unfair treatment and people who have not.
LinkedIn, please stop sensationalising yet another CVE. This time: #sshhole / #sshole
There's no need to sensationalise this. ALL of my feed is about SSHhole. I don't know a single systems administrator who has exposed SSH with password login, especially directly to root.
Most of you are not only overblowing the issue instead of reasonably reporting on it: yelling "️🚨⚠️⚠️️🚨 WARNING WARNING WARNING ️🚨⚠️⚠️️🚨" and further contributing to the system administrator burnout (which is a very serious issue, hell, every single minor vulnerability with minimal practical impact gets shoved down my throat from 30 sources every day -- how do you expect sysadmins to filter out all the garbage they get because of all of the cybersecurity slop, and deal with the issues that actually have huge impact), but also genuinely spreading disinformation by saying "enter 257 characters and BOOM: you have root"... this is simply not what this vulnerability is.
It's not a rootkit. It's not daemon -> root.
It's a user authentication bypass on systems that:
Use MUSL libc
Do not use PAM
Run OpenSSH
AND have password-based authentication on
It's not even an Alpine-specific issue, despite headlines blaming specifically Alpine.
It's a technically a serious issue. But it's not what most of you make it out to be (257 chars => root). And it's also not what most production systems will be affected by.
Worth updating, well worth fixing, but just... come on... let's stop floating within the illusion of catastrophe and get back on the ground of a second.
Stop the clout chasing via sensationalised CVEs and high CVSS score misinterpretation. I'm so sick of it. Every system administrator is. It's fatiguing. Every other day of the past couple of months has been nothing but this.
Gonna post a picture of my cat again someday. Not because it's doing well, it isn't, but she's kinda my icon. Sophie Germain and my cat Tina are both my icons. I aspire to be like them one day. When I'm a big girl. Maybe. I don't know if such level of swag is possible for me to achieve.
Technology has always been about solving complex problems, pushing boundaries, improving lives, and creating something more than mere profit.
But lately, there's been a shift toward treating tech purely as a monetisation machine -- maximising output, leveraging AI for sheer volume, measuring success solely by revenue, and creating what I can only call tech slop...
When volume and quick wins replace technical craft and user impact, the core identity of a tech company gets lost.
True innovation requires caring about what you build and how it affects the user.
Reflections from a recent interview where I was essentially told: "We don't care about anything else -- money is what makes the world go around, and that's our only goal as a company." 🫠
transparent terminal emulator windows are also a huge red flag to me, if you use a transparent terminal emulator window on your setup you are committing a heinous crime
today i presented https://git.ari.lt/uni/comp-arch-exc/src/branch/main/2-24.asm and got a 1,5/1,5 🔥
also im skipping the next task and doing a disassembler in assembly, and if i get a 10 i might not need to take the comp arch exam or it might be a different form 🔥
unis been pretty easy so far : )
blob.cat akkoma instance ( the one i use for fedi access ) seems to have died :( thankfully i depend on ari dot lithuania microblog for my shitposting, FSM forbid people dont hear my yelling into the void for a second 😟
for the nth time a job rejects me for being essentially overqualified
